I notice people are skeptical of giving Jeffery a chance on the third line if the roster stays the same for the offseason (it won't) but I wouldn't have a problem with giving him a shot.

Regarding the Morrow situation...do you think we have any chance to bring him back for anything lower than $1.5M? I'm assuming we'll have to deal Niskanen..

Was really disappointed with Iggy. He seemed a lot slower than I had imagined, I really didn't see any of his famous grit either. Either way that whole situation is awkward as hell.

I'd love to keep Morrow at 1.5.

I'm not expecting it to happen, but considering the fact that we have a wizard for a GM anything is possible. A healthy Morrow at $1.5 would make me feel MUCH better about our 3rd line. Morrow/Sutter/Jokinen would be a very respectable 3rd line.

If Shero can bring Morrow back at a reasonable price, I believe he can be the 3rd line player with grit that we have always been looking for, now that Cooke is gone.

Sad to see Cooke go, but at 2.5 mil I think it is way too much to pay him.

I know this isn't possible but I would love to see Grabovsky on a line with Malkin and Neal.

Very true...and we have to consider the chemistry between Morrow and Jokinen on that line. They seem to feed off each other. That would be a real good consolation prize for losing Cooke.

Grabovski is a good player who was buried in his role with the Leafs. As far as the Penguins are concerned there is no fit for Grabovski, he is a center.

Absolutely. Cooke's game isn't going to be replicated by anyone on this team (nor any of the available UFAs), but we have to at least attempt to replace him. Morrow on a 3rd line with Sutter and Joker would be a good start.

That wouldn't stop Bylsma from putting him on LW!

Although cookes history may have factored into him leaving, I truly don't think it was the main reason. It simply came down to numbers and the pens wouldn't have ANY room with that cap hit. The fact is he changed his game and was probably more effective. He looked decent next to Malkin and Neal, was arguably our best PKer, and got under the skin of other players. His boarding call in the playoffs was a dumb move, but look at what Regier did, and he's not considered a dirty player. Also Cooke is no longer a repeat offender I believe. The wild lost clutterbuck, but added a guy who was very similar

Morrow is probably looking closer to home for a job, but I don't think he's worthy of returning. The Pens need a PK'r to replace Cooke. I was 50/50 on Cookes return simply because all of the baggage, but I knew his role as a top notch PK'r will be tough to fill. Best PK'r on the team by far.

madmike, we already have Adams, Sutter, Dupuis, Jokinen and Glass for PK duties. No need to bring another one. Morrow would be a perfect compliment to our 3rd line if he comes back a little faster. How about Cleary? He's another option if the price is right.

@MolinariPG
Penguins aren't necessarily finished looking at the free-agent market, but Dan Cleary is not on their list of candidates.

He'll ask for too much money I guess.

For a lower price we still have some interesting names out there..

Skille, Mueller, Larose, Ryan Jones, Kobasew, Latendresse, Yip, Armstrong, N.Johnson

Don't be surprised if the 3rd line help comes via trade IE: Niskanen.

Definitely...
Do you have any team in mind that might use Nisky's service?

Nope. He could blend in on many teams.
